Coolest mobile tech I've seen in a while
I got a brief demo today by Mickey McManus and Matthew Casebeer of Maya Design of MakerSwarm.
MakerSwarm is "An authoring tool for the internet of everything"
I call it "distributed mobile programming for the masses". Check it out!
Edit: The kickstarter ends in eight days! A friend asked my why I am favorably inclined towards the project. My answer was this:
I guess I have some skin in the game with them being a Pittsburgh company. As I believe that some company is going to evolve the platform for the inevitable "killer swarm app", I'd just assume that it be Maya. "Diagrammatic programming" came back on my radar when Heather was 12 and started programming with Scratch. My hope is that some of the interesting swarm apps come from non-technologists. Perhaps from artists, musicians, educators, etc. I doubt that Maya will succeed in becoming the dominant platform, but their success with the Kickstarter would further the state of the art and hopefully get more people thinking about and experimenting with this paradigm. Basically I just want to see what interesting things people build.
